Edison scoffed at Hadrian’s amazement, there was nothing to be amazed of he had failed his attempt horribly. It was weird, trying to mimic Hadrian’s missing digit was incredibly hard, harder than changing his whole body into a mouse. Something was different than the normal humanoid matter, or even anything similar to a troll or demon. He defiantly wasn’t a human, which was his first assumption. Maybe he was just a guy with a rare disorder, but after that he knew his reasoning was wrong. Whatever this guy was he definably wasn’t anything that had been slinking around Wonder City lately.
Edison chuckled with dry humor. “Forever is under exaggerating unfortunately. I’ve done a few too many things that would fit under the category of illegal my friend.” He shook his head gently, remembering the last couple of things he had done which included killing a few people, trespassing, and black mail. And that was only this week working with the sneaky rat, who would likely tell the authorities of all his crimes and maybe even make up a few. God how he hated that guy!
He turned a deaf ear as Hadrian began to yell about how stupid he was. He wanted to correct him, but at the moment they had no time for fighting, especially if Edison wanted to get away from here without any cuffs on his wrists. If he could have said anything, he would have told Hadrian he wasn’t an idiot he just loved to life on the edge. This was all exciting! Each day you could life on the edge, and he had given up the fear of death long ago so this was all a game to him now. But in this game the pieces were all real people and each step you took was closer to death.
The mouse hissed at Hadrian as he made a comment about his shifting, that was one place where he couldn’t stand people talking about. “I’d like to see you try, but you don’t get it, it’s not the same. Especially not with you! Who knows what you are!” he rolled his eyes and looked up at the man who could easily step on him if he wished. “Besides I haven’t eaten you before.” He smirked at his comment, but there was no time to explain that to him now, and hopefully he wouldn’t want to ask later.
“The biggest ass you’ll ever know sweetheart.” He sneered, but scampered onto the open palm with was only an image of freedom to him. He clung to his skin as he was quickly lifted and placed onto the guy’s shoulder. Edison watched carefully as Hadrian tried to find a plan, and allowed him to do all of the thinking for now. As they climbed onto the desk he was sure that he was going to let free of his problems, but Hadrian didn’t seem like the type of person to do good deeds without a reward. He narrowed his eyes at the threat, but kept his mouth shut, once again not in the state to argue with his savior. “Yes, yes, whatever favor you want.” He didn’t care what this creature wanted, and extra finger? Sure he’d find him someone else’s. A girlfriend? A love potion would do the trick. All he was worried about was himself. Edison knew he was a rather selfish person, that was one of the things he disliked about himself, but he couldn’t change that.
The voices at the door sent shivers up his spine and he ducked under Hadrian’s shirt sleeve. He didn’t trust just his thick mess of hair to keep him safe. He poked out his nose as he wanted to see what plans Hadrian had to make this convincing. He gave the man a bewildered look as the stapler came flying down from his grasp and hitting him in the head. He shook his head somberly, wondering why in the world this stranger would hurt himself to help him escape! He must really want that favor he offered.
There wasn’t much down time between Hadrian braining himself and the cops kicking down the door. Edison hid head back under the cloth and pressed himself as close to his skin as possible, tail quivering gently with anticipation. Of course the cops wanted to interview him, making the wait as long as possible. He bit his lip in annoyance; the cops had become better and weeding out information from other people. But he had to admit that this guy was good. He gave out a fairly believable tale without giving away anything important about him. He felt like patting him on the back, but that could give his position away, so he kept tight.
It felt like forever until Hadrian got up and walked out of the staff room. He wrinkled his nose as he could smell that slimly rat somewhere close to them, a bit ironic, but the truth nonetheless. That damn human, who needed them? They only seemed to cause trouble…oh who was he kidding? He loved humans, had an absolute addiction to them. It was truly an addiction, a twisted physiology that he longed to be with. Humans reminded him of his past life where everything was simple. They also had unique emotions and expressions which he seemed to be forgetting.
Edison poked his head out again once he heard Hadrian speak. “I’m here.” He crawled out and perched on his shoulder, judging if he jumped from here if he could kill himself, he didn’t want to find out. So for now he guessed he was in Hadrian’s control and now they were supposedly going to his apartment, great. “Why’d you do that back there? You hurt yourself and everything when you could have easily turned me in?” No thank you would ever come out of his lips. And if he wanted one he’d have to strangle it out of the mouse.
He scratched behind his ear with his back foot and chuckled gently, wishing he could do that in his normal form. “So what favor do you want exactly? Money?” Most people wanted money in some shape or form, but they had already had this discussion and Hadrian didn’t seem to found of the green paper.

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]The frigid cold air caressed Hadrian's skin, whipping through his long-sleeve. The moon above them, almost full made Hadrian's pale skin almost look like a light shade of blue. He loosened his grip around his rib's as he walked through the lot, slowing his pace as he approached a black Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. It was a beautiful thing, with blue flames running over the shiny black paint. Hadrian preffered motorbikes over any other vehicle for sure. Not just because bikes were more manoeuvrable than car's, but they were faster, slimmer, dangerous, and so beautiful to look at. You could be the nerdiest little twerp in the world, but as soon as you put on a leather jacket and a helmet, then went roaring down a street on one of these, you were instantly transformed into something much more badass. That was just his way of thinking though.
The one thing, one flaw that he could find on the bike was a few small scratches on the back guard above the tire. They were barely cat-scratches. Anyone else would probably look right past them but to Hadrian, there may as well be a chunk taken out of the back. The scratches hadn't been there long; a few night's. Hadrian had helped a young woman escape her crazed ex-boyfriend. The guy had chased them in his car and the floosy he had in the passenger seat had started throwing empty bottle's at them. One of the bottles had hit the back of the guard, leaving the damage.
Hadrian had never been too great at the whole heroic's thing. Truth be said Hadrian was a bit of a rogue. Never liked to do much for other's unless there was a favor in return. You give a little, you get a little, ya know? It seemed fair enough. Dont get him wrong, he had a lot of kindness in him... he just didn't always let a lot of people see it. Probably because he had this little self imposed self-restriction thing where it took him a while to warm to someone. He preffered to only have a few good friends anyway. He had a soft spot for Tara. Since the night he'd rescued her and they almost got themselves into a smashup.
He shoved one of his hand's into a pocket as he slowed to a complete stop, fishing around for the key. In the meantime, Edison asked an interesting question. Briefly, Hadrian found it interesting that he could even hear the mouse speak. He supposed it helped that the voice was right beside his ear. Why did he help Edison? He could have just opened the window and let the little mouse-man scamper off to freedom. But he needed to make it look convincing. That's why he'd needed the stapler. See, stupid action's sometimes get possitive results.
"I helped..." Hadrian paused, playing with the key's between his fingers as he narrowed his eyes in thought while he considered his answer. "I helped because good help is hard to find on this planet." He shrugged his shoulder's before adding, "plus, I want to save that favor you owe me, cash it in later in case I need rescuing."
Hadrian turned his head to look at his bike then, "so, this the last favor I offer you... do you need a lift somewhere? Oh, though you might not feel too comfortable riding as a mouse. You might want to turn back into a human." + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Edison sighed quietly to himself as Hadrian made his way merrily along to wherever he had decided to go. He had the feeling that the guy had forgotten about him. Which was pretty uncommon for Edison. He wasn’t a figure you just forgot about. He was the one that made you think about him contestably, wondering what the hell was going on in his head. And half the time he had no idea himself.
Finally Hadrian spoke up and actually acknowledged him as they approached the guy’s bike. Edison let out a pathetic mouse whistle as he set eyes on the machine. It was pretty, and defiantly a boy’s toy. He didn’t know much about motorcycles, but he knew he liked this one. He watched the other man’s hand as he stroked the bike like it was a pet, and could tell how fond he was of the thing. Ah he would later wish he wouldn’t have done that. Even though the gesture was small, he could tell that this bike was a very close piece of the man’s heart. And from this he could easily use the bike as a subject of blackmail if he ever needed, which eh didn’t think he would. Still, it was also a good piece of information to have.
Edison furrowed his brow at his response. Sure it was true but that didn’t give him a good reason to help him out. He let out a sigh as he made a better argument by saying that he wanted to keep the favor. “But I’m sure that you get into so much drama.” He said sarcastically, rolling his eyes before looking down at the ground that didn’t seem so threatening anymore. “But I don’t need a ride thank you, no more favors, I already hate owing people.” The mouse gripped the fabric of Hadrian’s shirt and shimmed as gently as possible down the fabric where the jump wouldn’t be as painful. But he still hit the pavement rather hard, not wanting to go anywhere near Hadrian’s pants. He hissed as his small legs buckled under him, and waited for the pain to subside before straitening up. He shut his eyes and allowed his body to disintegrate into smoke. The cloud curled and twisted upward to form the shape of a human before filling in with a solid material. Edison tapped his hand on his chin while looking at the other guy. “I have an idea, you don’t have to accept of course, but how about you come back with me to my office and I can show you some things that might catch your interest. Nothing ordinary of course, that would be too drab for me.” He smirked silently before waving his hand and pulled a business card with an address on it, handing to him. “Meet me there? It will be worth your time. Or I can come with you I guess.”
(( If he accepts would you mind if I throw in another character? Just trying to keep the plot rolling a bit xD ))

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]Hadrian's gaze didn't fail to notice the way that Edison looked at his bike. Hadrian was used to people staring at it, and he liked that. It was one of the reason's he'd bought it in the first place, it was a very fine machine indeed. But there was a way that Edison stared at it that unsettled Hadrian slightly. It was a rare motorbike, made in the year 2011, so a long while back. Hadrian liked vintage thing's. Especially what vintage he could find on this planet. The technologies were so different it really piqued Hadrian's interest to learn more about it.
Pushing it into the back of his mind however, Hadrian focused instead on the now. He ignored the mouses comment on getting into drama. It was true Hadrian tried to keep out of trouble if he could avoid it (tonight was a fine example of not being able to avoid it) but the true reason Hadrian wanted to keep the favor for a while, and he would vocalize it sooner or later, was because this Edison was obviously a bit of a shady guy.
To be honest Hadrian wondered if Edison was involved in any sort of underground chop-shop operations. It was possible. Which meant that any "deal's" they made would, with his luck, be uprooted and all he'd be heavily fined or imprisoned if he was lucky enough not to get executed.
Edison, in mouse form began to sneak his way down Hadrian's sleeve, and the alien-man's eyes widened in surprise as Edison jumped, not too gracefully, onto the pavement. Hadrian cringed, watching as the little mouse recovered and wondered why he didn't just say he didn't want to be carried anymore. Hadrian would have offered to place him back on the ground. Or maybe Edison enjoyed trying to break his own legs. Wouldn't surprise him.
Hadrian watched as the mouse slowly began to fade away, enveloped in smoke. The black vapor twisted and spun as it morphed into something more solid, slowly taking shape as a young human man; Edison. Hadrian definately preffered looking at Edison in human form, if it were possible to preffer looking at him at all. Hadrian could think of several thing's he'd rather be looking at; cantaloupe, his own planet, maybe a pretty girl or two. Just to name a few.
A frigid gust of wind blew then, chilling Hadrian and making him shudder while his hair whipped across his face. Exhaling loudly, Hadrian pulled his hair out of his eyes, only then noticing that the lump on his forhead was already beginning to fade, thank's to his fast healing. What might've become a nasty bruise and a small gash on some people, healed faster on Hadrian depending on the extent of the injury. Same if he was healing others. Edison was offering him an interesting proposition. "Nothing ordinary? How so?" Regardless of his desion to keep the favor Edison offered, Hadrian was curious. It appeared that Edison was quite keen on ridding himself of this favor he offered. Well he shouldnt have offered in the first place.
A card was offered to him, and Hadrian accepted it, holding it as he read the details, and adress. What else better did he have to do tonight? Go home, sit on the couch and fall asleep? Nothing special. Ahh what an exciting social life he had. "Fine. But I'm just coming for a look. You can ride with me... I dont see any other way for you to get there... just make sure you give me enough warning with direction's. Map's confuse me." + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
++ NOTES xx Go ahead Who've you got in mind? Maybe we'll skip to Hadrian and Edison going to his office? Just saves us typing out heaps about the ride there. Was thinking we could add a little more about their backstories. Like Edison ask's more about Hadrian and his head. There seems to be a minimal amount of trust between them for now it could be interesting

“You’ll see.” Was his only response to Hadrian’s question, but all Edison cared about was that he was interested. In his vocabulary, that meant yes. But he had the dilemma of how to get him there, and it looked as if the only option was the bike, how exciting!
Bikes sucked. Edison opened his eyes as they came to a stop at the edge of the street corner like he had instructed. They had parked in front of a fairly busy bar, but that wasn’t the place that they were headed to. They just parked here so it wouldn’t lead to any suspicion. His cheeks heated up as he saw how close he was sitting to Hadrian, and the whole ride had to force himself not to hold onto the other male. He staggered off the bike and collapsed to the ground, kissing it. “Sweat ground, how I missed you!” It was a horrible feeling of being balanced on a thin machine that threatened, or felt like, to tip over at any moment. And there was no protection if you fell, just your bare skin on the unforgiving asphalt. He chuckled at his horrible sense of humor before hopping up to his feet and wiping of his hands on his pants. “Don’t worry about you’re bike, a guy in there will make sure it won’t get hurt.” He jabbed his thumb towards the bar, hoping he would actually believe him on this one.
Edison shrugged gently before turning down the sidewalk and started along briskly. This part of town was rather old, rustic shops littered each side of the street, and it seemed that every other building was shut down with the windows boarded up. He came to a halt as they stood In front of one of the older building, and he smiled fondly up at the fading light blue sing that had ‘W—der C—y Bak—y’ written on it in gold letters. “It use to say Wonder City Bakery if you couldn’t tell, I was told it was a rather popular place.” He stuck his hand into his pocket and fished out a ring of keys, flipping through them until he found the correct one and shoved it into the lock, undoing it before tugging open the door harder than intended. Not all the locks were locked, but he gave an ‘ohhh’ expression once he remembered what that meant, they weren’t alone.
The first floor of the building was pitch black once he closed the door behind them, but a dim light came on from a staircase in the corner of the room, casting a eerie glow over the place. It looked just like a normal bakery, a counter where pastries should be was covered in cobwebs and a thick layer of dust, and there were chairs and tables still set up as if the place was open for business. “Don’t worry we won’t be conversing down here.” He smiled more genuinely this time before heading up the stairs and pushing on a newer looking door. His real office was just a medium sized room with a large desk and book shelves lining the walls. There was a couch and a coffee table in a corner next to two doors that lead to a bathroom and a bedroom. The colors matched his personality, shades of grays, and light browns, no fancy or happy colors were anywhere.
There was one oddity of color curled up asleep on the couch, an orange tabby cat with a white face and stomach was sleeping soundly. An eye cracked open as the two people entered and it watched then carefully with a scowl on its lips. Edison flopped down on the couch next to the animal and motioned for Hadrian to sit down next to him if he wanted. He stroked the cat who purred loudly, but every time it looked over to Hadrian it stopped and seemed to glare at him. “Ah don’t mind her, she doesn’t like people.” He smirked.
“So Haddy, how’s you’re head buddy?” he cocked his head to the side to try and see where the lump had been, but there was barely anything left to look at. “Cool, so you can heal or something? And you might as well just explain to me what the hell you are exactly, you pretty much know what I am, well the basics anyway. Want a coffee or something?” His voice wasn’t showing any signs of being hostile or viscous towards the guy. He was always curious about people, what they were, where they came from, what they lived for, etcetera. “Don’t worry I’ll spill whatever beans you’d like me to as well.”
(That’s a great idea thanks. xD And I’ll just add Sage, she’s a bit pissed at Ed for bringing home strange men lol )

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]Hadrain remained as silent as he could while he and Edison made their way to Edison's "office". The ride there was relatively short, and extremely uncomfortable. Usually Hadrian felt very at ease on his Harley, riding through the street's but tonight it seemed a little different. Maybe it was the company he was keeping, but perhaps it had more to do with the fact that while they were riding all Hadrian could do was wonder if Edison was going to fall off the back of the bike. He barely held on the entire trip and as they dismounted the Harley, Hadrian had to roll his eyes at Edison's overdramatic display of dropping to the ground and kissing it! Who knew who or what had falling, stepped in, or goodness knows what all over it.
Hadrian was surprised to find himself parked in front of a bar; it was one of the only building's on the street that still had lights on where all the other business’s were closed for the evening. From what Hadran could see from the outside, it was an old style tavern with the bar made entirely from wood, and corrugated tin wrapping all around it to make it look more rustic.
There were two pool tables off toward the back and a dining area off to the left. There were plenty of bar stools surrounding the bar and tables set up around the room, there were also sections with couches surrounding the tables for the more at home feel.
The noise was as you'd expect. The regulars had already set up shop at their usual stools and tables drinking, laughing and carrying on. The barmaids and men were rushing about behind the bar making drinks and rushing them out to the patrons swapping banter as they went.
“Don’t worry about you’re bike, a guy in there will make sure it won’t get hurt.” The guy in question was sitting on a stool beside one of the pool tables, his great large belly shaking as he roared with laughter, slapping a smaller guy on the shoulder as he slammed his glass of beer onto the table. "I certainly dont doubt he can take good care of himself..." he muttered as he shoved the key to the bike in his front pocket before following Edison.
The building that he was led to was very old, and quite abandoned. As were most of the building's around it. If this were an old scary film Hadrian was sure a zombie or deranged cowboy would appear and begin some sort of confrontation. If there was a zombie attack ho would be the first to go out of he or Edison, Hadrian wondered. Great, now he was beginning to relate fiction to real-life... he had definately been working in that Video store for too long.
They stopped at a bakery, or he assumed it was anyway, the sign suggested it was something completely different. Hadrian didn't like to read... it was difficult to learn, and took a lot of time to write thing's out... using a keyboard or a typewriter was easier... he only had to tap the letter's he wanted to use, but to use a pen or pencil ment he had to spend more time on each letter, making sure if looked eligable. Which it didn't, more often than not. The sign above them read "W—der C—y Bak—y"
Hadrian hummed a little, "mhmm" in responce to Edison's little explanation as they ducked into the once-bakery. It was dark inside. Their only source of light was a small dim glow from one of the other room's, and even that wasn't enough to light most of their way. Hadrian made a note to walk slowly in an effort to avoid other obsticles that might get in his way. In the poor lighting, Hadrian could still make out the outline of a counter, and the usual chair's, tables... it looked as if it had just one day been randomly abandoned. There was no sign that there was a struggle or any sort of fight put up here at all. Whoever had worked here, eaten here, been in the vicinity at all had just... gone. But why?
"What happened here?" Hadrian asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He wasn't sure why he whispered. Maybe it was because it was so quiet here, it almosty seemed innapropriate to speak at a normal level. He walked closely after Edison, not wanting to loose him. It wasnt as if this would be an easy place to get lost in, but it wasn't a place he wanted to be left in. Something about it made his skin crawl. "Do you live here?" He asked as they entered another room, looking around more closely as his surrounding's grew a little brighter. It was indeed an office, no doubt where the Baker would have kept the more important files and key item's when closing and opening shop. A few shelves lined the wall's and in the middle stood a desk. There was a couch too, he noticed with a large cat laying on one of the cusions. Off to the side was a different pair of doorway's leading to he wasn't sure what.
Edison tapped his palm against one of the couch cushions, and Hadrian assumed that the human was offering him a seat. Hadrian just shook his head from side-to-side, deciding not vocalise his decline in the offer, instead, he walked around the room very slowly. "My head's fine." Hadrain cocked a brow behind Edison's back as he picked up a book from one of the shelves, turning it over to look at it back to front. The action wasn't completely directed at the question, but at the fact that Edison had called him "buddy". What made them qualify as "buddies" all of a sudden.
For the record, his head was fine. The lump, or what was left of it, was now a slight pinkish tone on the top of his head and a small mark, thinner than a cat scratch. Hadrian turned to face Edison as he spoke again, still holding the large book in his hand. "What of it to you anyway? You seem to be into a lot of shady dealing's here. That, and your action's prove that you're untrustworthy." Hadrian looked at the cat, who stared at him. "Tell the truth, why did you really bring me here, Edison." + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
++ NOTES xx That sounds cool! I'm guessing that Sage is the cat? Sounds like she'll be very interesting! When I read "Haddy" it made me giggle =P For some reason I can picture Hadrian disliking that nickname hahaha! What sorta mini plots should we add here? I was thinking of a few ideas, feel free to add whatever ya want! Depend's on the relationship you want between them... a sort of friendship right? Based on trust or a mutual agreement that they'll keep each others secrets. Ed want's to know what Hadrian is... maybe try and make deal's with Haddy like he'll either take his bike or pay him to show how some of his abilities work. Hadrian want's to keep the favor that Edison owes him... could come in handy down the track if there ever was any trouble. Any injury that a person is inflicted will be passed onto Hadrain if he decides he wants to help heal them, and of course ya know about the fast healing thing anyway. xx

‘What happened here?’ That certainly was a question that Edison hadn’t been expecting. Out of all the people that had ever come here that was never a question that was spoken. Maybe people had thought out it, but never actually wanted to find out. A grin spread across his lips as Hadrian kept his voice quiet. This wasn’t a graveyard, and it defiantly did not deserve any respect. “Oh nothing really, they ran out of money and closed down once the newer side of town was built, I bought it off the people’s hands because I use to work here once in a blue moon, just seemed fit to me, and it’s a bit eerie don’t you think? I like it.”
He thought it held some intimidation to the people that came here. If he had some fluffy waiting room of sorts people wouldn’t take him seriously and think that he was a nice forgiving person. But when they walked into this scene, ah that was much different! It was a bit ironic, how a happy place like a bakery turned out so dusty and full of darkness. It probably ruined some of his client’s childhood memories of happier times; all the better.
He rolled his eyes once the man declined his offer and then continued to ask him more personal questions. Edison was keeping count so that he could ask the same amount. “no I don’t live here, sure I may spend the night, but the cat is the only one who lives here full time.” Which was more or less the truth in a roundabout way.
“Good to hear about your head, wouldn’t want anything else to possibly blame me for in one day.” He chuckled and pulled the cat into his lap as it protested and began to stoke it gently. “You can read can you? Always hard to find in a person, but unfortunately I doubt you can read most of those, I can’t either, damn language barriers right?”
He seemed to be offended at Hadrian’s comment and withdrew some of his happiness and frowned. “Shady? Isn’t this whole world shady?” he said bitterly. “Do you blame things for casting shadows? I doubt it; they can’t help what they cast when the sun hits them, and so you can’t blame me for what I am. If you don’t like the darkness, stay in the light. And I’m only untrustworthy to those who put too much trust in my hands.” Edison huffed, trying to keep as calm as physically possible for him, which wasn’t very calm in a normal person’s vocabulary. His words had also seemed to upset the cat whose fur stood on end as it hopped onto the floor and sat closer to the stranger, eyeing him carefully.
“And I’m a curious person Haddy, I like to know things and broaden my intellect. You are defiantly nothing I’ve seen before, not being able to mimic one finger is a lot.” He straightened his back and looked at the man curiously. “I just want to get to know you better, what you are, where you’ve been, powers if any. And in return I can easily give you the same information, or money. And if you refuse….” He chuckled and raised a brow. “Well hopefully you won’t and we won’t have to go there today.”
If there was one thing that he could classify himself at being good at, was getting things from people. Making others miserable was his specialty and he knew how to push people’s buttons. It wasn’t a very hard trait to get, you just had to be patience, which most people aren’t, and watch people to see how they act around certain things. He already knew that Hadrian loved two things: His bike and his job. Blackmail was always an effective way of making people talk. That or harming them in some way, worked well too.
The cat’s tail hovered gently. “He’s more trustworthy than he seems.” It muttered, and stretched out its limbs. Edison looked over to the animal lazily, but if he hadn’t there would be no other proof that the cat had talked in the first place.
(You guessed correctly! Haha and I wouldn’t imagine very many people liking a stupid nickname, especially not a man given one by another man! And yeah I’m sure he could come up with something to force Hadrian into showing his powers, I can think of a lot of fun ways actually…lol but where we are at leaves room for a lot of side plots and such.^^ And you’re responses are always a joy to read!)

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]Edison was threatening Hadrian. The bastard was using threat's! And what was worse, he'd been insulting!
Hadrian gave Edison a calculating stare, trying to evaluate what to say next. He also wanted to ascertain the worth of what this... whatever he was, was offering. First of all, of course he could read! He just didn't do it often enough, or even like to. Edison had a point some-what in saying that the world was shady. It reminded him of something he hadn't thought much of for a while. "The name 'Hadrian' mean's dark." He spoke idly, running a finger over the edges of the book's hard cover. "I guess you might say that it's a nickname? Some friend's I lived with for a while gave it to me." He didn't divulge too much, wouldn't. "I've seen a lot of darkness over time. So dont try and school me on it."
Hadrian noticed wasn't the only being in the room that seemed a little unsettled. Hadrian could see that the cat seemed a little on edge too, jumping from Edison's lap and padded towards him. He looked down at the cat a moment, staring back with a calculating glare which matched the creatures. "If you think that you can try and control me, Edison," Hadrian turned his head to look back at the human. His hair fell over his face slightly, and he glared. "You've presumed wrong."
He deliberated what to say next. The threat had caught him slightly off guard. What was Edison planning? What was he planning on doing to him if he refused? "What exactly do you think you'd acomplish by knowing more about me? You're very covert in the way you answer my question's." Not that Hadrian had volunteered much either. "Is it just that you cannot mimic my hand's? Is that what bother's you? And my head? I heal, so what? You heal as well."
A small part of Hadrian did wish to know what Edison had to offer. He also knew that it would cost him. What would it cost him if he didn't take the offer? More than if he took it, he had no doubt. Like it or not, Hadrian had walked into a trap. And he wasn't happy. The cat made a sound then, barely audible but a sound none the less. Hadrian chose to ignore it... but did it just speak? Uncertainty on the matter passed through Hadrian's mind as he glanced at the cat, stretching it's limb's before he looked back at Edison. "I am not some receptacle of knowledge!" Oh but he was. To human's yes, and he knew he was.
"What would happen to me if I outlive my usefulness to you?" Hadrian's curiosity was more pointed at his own welfare rather than a bargain but he wasn't sure which way Edison would take it. Surely he didn't trust Hadrian enough to believe he would not tell anyone about what Edison was. Hadrian would never be sure of what Edison might say about him either. At least if Hadrian kept his abilities to himself they couldn't be proven (as far as he was aware), but Hadrian could always say he'd be able to turn Edison in if revenge was on his mind. + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

“I’m terribly sorry Mr. Dark, but I’m sure you’ve seen some scary things!” he rolled his eyes, as if a name meant anything. Romeo and Juliet made a perfect example of that, if you called a rose by another name it would still smell as sweat! But a thought struck him and he tilted his head to the side. “And what language is that in? Something…out of this world ? Or maybe a hidden language that no humans have learned?” he had only met one other person that didn’t speak an earthly known language, and that was Xara, and she was defiantly not from Earth.
Edison smirked again as Hadrian said he didn’t control him. That was true he didn’t, but he could control his comfort and fear levels, make him feel jumpy and prey on him them. No, no one could ‘control’ a person, unless they used mind powers of course! He laughed and shook his head at his joke. “Oh don’t worry Haddy I won’t control you, you have a thing called free will. Like why did you even come with me in the first place? I didn’t force you did I? So obviously you were curious or wanted something out of this right?’
“Oh Hadrian I just wish o know more and more! Just because I learn a few things doesn’t mean that I’m going to use them for bad!” he draped a hand over his forehead dramatically to match his sober voice. He was all one for acting to increase his performance. “But you seem like you are withholding so much from me dear. If you didn’t have anything to hide you’d be more than willing to fill me in on what you know.”
He shut his eyes for a moment before opening them with a sparkle. “No matter, I have ways of making people spill, even if they turn drastic.” He shrugged playfully and lifted himself up the couch, moving over to open a drawer in his desk. He fumbled through things before finding what he wanted and pushed it up his sleeve before closing the drawer. Edison let the pocket knife slip into his open palm before flicking it open and examining the blade lazily. He looked to Hadrian and grinned. “I’m very dedicated to my work, and you’re right. I’ll probably use my new knowledge about you to tell over people and make money. I could have helped you with whatever you longed for from you’re past, but too late.” He lifted the knife up and pointed it at Hadrian, but changed it’s direction quickly and dug the blade into his stomach, twisting it sharply before letting go with a sick grin.
The cat yelped loudly as if it had been the one that was hurt and sprang up from its resting position. “What the hell!” The cat vanished quickly into a smoke similar to Edison’s but it was a light shade of purple and had a less intimidating look to it. It settled quickly on the floor in the shape of a young woman who glared at Hadrian behind thin bangs. “Why did you just tell him something? You should have known that he’d do something crazy either to you or someone else!” Sage groaned and rose to her feet before sitting down next to Edison.
“Why would you do that? You’re so fucking crazy Ed…” there was some hostility in her voice, but not as much as directed to Hadrian. Sage held her brother in this almost godlike image and almost never believed any of his crazy antics were wrong. She gripped the blade and pulled it out of him, wiping off the blood on her pant leg and frowned bitterly while she tried to think of what to do to help him. “You idiot, you’re such an ass why don’t you just think things through before hurting yourself like that?”
Edison shrugged gently and placed his hand over the wound. “I’m the one and only sis, the biggest ass you’ll ever know.” He laughed, but shut his eyes for a moment in pain before blinking lazily in Hadrian’s direction. “I guess I wanted to prove something, but I think I forgot exactly why, mostly to show you never know what I’ll do.”

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]Hadrian crossed his arm's tightly against his chest, his lip's pressed into a tight frown. "It's a Latin name, in English. Human." Hadrian wasn't naive. He knew that Edison must see it is very obvious that he wasn't human. The only thing about Hadrian that was definately human was his name. To be honest it wasn't really even his real name. A couple of people he shared a roof with when he'd first found himself jettisoned onto this planet gave it to him. They'd taught him how to speak, fed him (what very little he did eat), and put him to work. Hadrian rarely ever thought about his other name. He'd never even told anyone what it was, save the people he stayed with.
He could still remember the night they named him. Putting it that way made it sound as if he were a pet. Let's rephrase. He could still remember the night that they helped decide a name. He'd needed something more practicle. If he had used his true name then it would have been made a lot more obvious he hadn't belonged here. At least with a human name, he stood out far less.
"I was curious." Hadrian clarified, getting more than a little annoyed at the boy's action's. The guy was moving now, raising himself from the couch and moving lazily towards the desk of drawer's. Hadrian followed Edison's movement with his eye's, turning his head everywhere Edison went. "What is there to know? I'm very curious about you too. So how about we turn these cards," he wasn't sure if that was the propper phraising. "Your smoke abilities or whatever you'd like to call it, is that in your gene... tic's..." Hadrian blanked as Edison pulled a pocket knife from one of the drawer's, and his eye's widened as he realised that Edison was pointing it in his direction. What would Edison do? Throw it? Run at him? Would he be able to dodge it? But as Edison lifted the knife, and Hadrian considered his option's, he realised that the knife wasn't for him. Not exactly.
Edison plunged the knife into his own stomach, twisting it in a quick, sickening motion. Hadrian swore loudly, not in English but his own language, but before his mind had a decent chance to process this little whammy, the cat, who a second ago... was a cat, was somehow not a cat... and, what the hell! She was a young woman now, sitting exactly where her cat-form had been sitting, staring up at him with furious green eyes. How was he supposed to know that Edison would do that? Why would anybody in their right mind do anything like that?! But Edison wasn't in the right mind, clearly. Edison was on the floor now, the cat-girl, his sister it appeared was sitting beside him, cradling her older brother.
"You are a fucking moron." Hardian scolded the human male, and walked towards the sibling's. Hadrian weaved his finger's into Edison's torn, bloodied shirt and pulled, tearing the fabric open a little wider so that he could inspect the damage. He knew exactly why Edison would have done this and he felt more that a little trapped, and pissed off too. Edison wouldn't, couldn't know for certain that Hadrian could heal other being's, as well as himself. He could assume, and Hadrian could pretend that his abilities were limited only to himself, and he gladly would as long as he lived on this Earth. If he ever chose to tell anyone who he was, he'd wanted it to be because of a mutual friendship, not by use of force. Edison, using this one foolish action threw Hadrian's hope right out of the bakery window.
Hadrian felt his body tense as he hessitated between trying to choose what he wanted to do. One the one hand he wanted to walk right out of the bakery, and he could too, and pretend that none of this ever happened. He wouldn't know what happened to Edison, unless the story was put on the news, and then what? Hadrian couldnt be sure if he;d be mentioned or not. Assuming the extent of the injury wasn't fatal, Edison could live for all he knew. He might try and use what very little info he had on Hadrian against him. What if Hadrian attempted to heal Edison? Then Edison would definately have all of the information he'd need. Why offer kindness if none had been offered in return? Hadrian may not be human, and despite his personality, low tollerance issues and inability to really play nicely with others, he was still humane.
Hadrian wanted to roll the dice.
He marched toward's the desk, where Edison had slumped over onto the floor, kneeling down slowly as he looked at the wound, and wondered how deep it was. The blade was small... probably enough to penetrate the muscle tissue but he was doubtful any organs were harmed. If they were then Edison would probably be bleeding out by now. But there was still a lot of blood...
Ignoring any kind of reaction he might recieve from the auburn haired shifter, Hadrian knelt closer to Edison, looking him square in the eye for a few long second's before he decided to speak, in a low, accented voice. "I'm going to cash in that favor. If I help you you need to promise you will never, ever tell anyone anything about me, before clearing it with me first. Understand?" Hadrian stared into Edison for a few more long second's before he tore the shirt open further, "you really are a donkey." Hadrian was reffering to an ass, he still hadn't gotten the jist of that insult yet.
Hadrian took a good look at the wound, trusting his own judgment when he assumed it wasn't deep enough to have penetrated internal organ's. But it sure looked as if it hurt a fair bit! Hadrian rolled his jumper's sleeves just below his elbow's and placed his hand's over the wound, making sure to place them verticle to the wound as he pressed down gently, ignoring any protest's either Edison or his sister vocalised, as he closed his eyes and furrowed his brow in concentration. "Don't speak." He instructed as he focused his attention on the area he was touching.
If he was asked to describe what he was doing, he might say he was concentrating all of his sences onto the area that he was touching, and sharing energy. It was a complicated thing to explain, even to the most switched on of people. In a nutshell, Hadrian was healing Tara, using chemical's in his own brain. He was using an ability unique to his species, passed on through evolution. One that could speed up the healing process. Of course the only drawback was that if he did choose to heal a being, whatever damage had been inflicted would be transferred onto Hadrian.
The muscles in Hadrian's arm's began to tense sporadically, and a dull ache began to pulse around his abdomen. Hadrian continued to focus his "energies" toward's Edison's stomach, allowing a small grunt of pain to vibrate in his throat as he felt some of his skin begin to split on it's own accord, at the very same time as Hadrian could feel Edison's wound move and shift underneath his hand's. He wouldn't heal Edison completely... not all the way. He didn't want that risk. He'd only heal him just enough...
Hadrain swallowed back another grunt of pain as it tried to escape his throat, holding his breath so that he would make no noise. His skin split further, a little bit deeper and he could feel something warm and wet soak the front of his jumper and slither to the lining of his jean's, undoubtedly staining the denim. He liked those jean's too. He usually didnt do any laundry for a few days.
The blood underneath Hadrian's finger's felt as if it had stopped running through the wound, but Hadrian was finding it more and more difficult to concentrate. He felt the mental connection fade as he gritted his teeth together, opening his eyes wide as something... a light flashed somewhere inside of the pupil's before Hadrian toppled backward's, landing on his side as his half-open eyelid's flickered strangely. His brain was unacustomed to the mental connection faltering so abruptly.
Hadrian's breathing came out as heavy, sporadic breath's as he blinked his eyes hard several times, ridding himself of the strange sensation he felt inside of his head. His hand's had already found his stomach as he slowly pulled his leg's closer to his body, despite his stomach's jabbing protest. He lifted his head, glancing at his sister quickly before he looked over at Edison before he took a deep breath in. "I guess that I wanted to prove that," Hadrian took another breath, " that though you may not have any humanity, there are still a few being's out there who choose to express some. Even toward's someone who doesn't deserve it." True, and Hadrian hoped that Edison was a man of his word when it came to his bargain's and favor's. + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
