Rules and Suggestions
These are the rules. They must be followed to ensure that we all have a good time. It looks like a lot, but it's not; they all have headers for easy reference.

xx. Respect .xx
Be respectful to one another. Obey the Proboards rules. Keep arguments to PM only. If someone abuses you via PM, contact Proboards or contact us.
xx. Read the content .xx
Make sure you read the site content. This will enable to you build a realistic character which fits into the world and also help you relate to other characters, join in plots etc.
xx. Make your character approachable .xx
Please, keep 'loner' characters to a minimum. We are here to role-play, so your character should be able to interact. I don't mean that you can't make a character who is generally a loner. I mean that at least that character should be able to enter a decent plot with somebody. Otherwise, you will grow bored and so will the person with whom you are role-playing.
xx. Wait to be accepted .xx
Please wait until you are accepted and your species has been accepted before playing. While waiting, chat on the chat box and get to know some others, and consider potential plots. We aim to accept as fast as possible.
xx. Take note of character/profile criticism from admin .xx
If you weren't accepted, chances are there are just a few things we would like to see added to or modified. Don't take it personally.
xx. Character limit .xx
There is no limit provided you can post regularly with each character. You may put a character on hiatus, but make sure you discuss this with whomever you are role-playing with - otherwise it's rude to leave them waiting for months!
xx. Grammar, spelling, & posting .xx
First and third person are both allowed. We prefer past tense but if both people in a thread agree to present-tense, that’s your choice. Try to watch your grammar and spelling when writing. Just as importantly, react to the other character. If they are turning into a dragon, it helps if your character notices. Read their post carefully and respond accordingly.
xx. No godmoding/power-playing .xx
Do not play other people’s characters unless given permission. Also, make sure your character has weaknesses. We are pretty flexible with species on this site; you may make up your own, but they must first be approved. Don’t kill people’s characters or maim them without asking. Let them react. Sometimes, the best way to play out a fight scene is in the IC chat box because they are fast and dynamic. You do not have to copy and paste the scene into your post if you don’t want to.
xx. No one-liners and no chat-speak in board posts .xx.
This is a semi-literate role-play to allow room for improvements. It is not a chat-speak role-play. One-liner role-plays are generally conducted in the IC chat box (for example, scenes where characters are chatting and it's hard to get a paragraph post without being ridiculously descriptive about a rock or tree).
xx. Graphics .xx
- Your avatar may be any size providing it does not stretch the board layout.
- Keep signatures at a respectable size; use your common sense. - No nudity. No porn. No unnecessary violence/gore. No derogatory images or hate images.
- They may be of your character or of something else you like.
- The same rules apply to any photos/images posted on the site.
- If it is someone else’s art piece or prized photograph which you are showing off, reference them or use a link instead of a thumbnail to post it.
- They must not stretch the site layout, that’s annoying and forces some people to scroll across.
xx. Accounts/Usernames .xx
One account per person so we can keep count! All characters should be played in this account. You may name yourself whatever you like; you may use one of your character’s names (being mindful that the same account will also be used for your other characters), your real name, a nickname. Nothing offensive. No swear words. If it helps, you can list your characters’ names in your signature or make an artistic signature.
xx. Activity .xx
If you are unable to post for over one week, please post a hiatus message. We don’t need an explanation if it’s private, but a simple ‘I shall be away for such and such a time’ is appreciated. Polite reminders are fine, but no constant nagging, please. You’ll find yourself despised by the other person quite quickly.
xx. Mary Sue and Gary Sue .xx
We would prefer you added depth to your character. Please do not make them all-perfect. We may ask you to modify them a little if we see fit.
xx. Character models .xx
You may use cartoons, art or celebrities. If they are a celebrity, only one person may use that celebrity to avoid ‘twins’ unless the other role-player wants a twin. Do not use yourself as a model for safety reasons!
xx. Plot xx.
We have some unknown factors in our site-wide plot. If you have site-wide plot ideas, please share them or detail them in your application if your character is involved. We will approve or offer comments or we may decide it’s not appropriate – we encourage you to tell us if you have an idea!
xx. Advertising .xx
Post advertisements in the appropriate board. Do not post your site link in the chat box unless it’s part of the conversation. Don’t spam or troll with stupid links when people are clearly not interested.
