In addition to filling out a character form, we ask that if you have created your own species, you also fill the below code out. It must be accepted along with your character biography before you can roleplay. This not only allows us to make sure your species will work in our world, but it also allows other people to read a detailed description.
When creating a species, be aware that godmoding is not allowed. Don't make them all powerful - this takes the fun and the challenge out of RPG and makes it boring for the other person whose character you have just beaten up.
For example.
Gigantor the Dragon God roared with laughter, placing his huge spiked hands on his hips. "Muahahaha...small insect fool! Your sword cannot pierce my skin! I am special! I am...GIGANTOR!" Gigantor jumped onto the leopard shifter in front of him, gouging out its eyes with his super awesome claws. "ROOOARR!! BOW TO ME! I CAN TAKE OVER THE CITY WITH ONE CLAW SWIPE!"
Please no.
For help creating a species, especially if you are a serious writer or new to RPG, visit the Creating a Species page.
Give them weaknesses, both physical and magical (if applicable). Read the form carefully and then copy it to a new thread for an admin to look over. Be creative, imaginative, and descriptive! Don't give them a thousand powers. Powers include things like shape-shifting, manipulating ice, calling animals, opening portals, creating glamour. Also include senses - these are attributes such as a heightened sense of smell, hearing, sight, or the ability to sense souls, or energy, perhaps changes in the weather or whether some is good or evil. For every power, there should be a weakness (that is just a guide). For example, if your character can cast fire, they might be weakened to humid conditions, water, or perhaps they can suffer from loss of energy. In a world such as ours, all creatures who can manipulate magic and energy should run out of energy eventually - people aren't unlimited. There are no power levels here, so we ask you to judge the situation appropriately and remember that this is about story writing and fun, not 'who has the strongest character'. This is not Dragonball Z (Not saying DBZ characters aren't allowed, though).
Happy writings! See below for Tessa's fantastic Character Creation form!
