The Andromeda....what? Xara wondered as she swallowed down some more toothpaste. Her people did not know much about their surrounding area, let alone their galaxy. Xara had almost been sent into fits of panic when they told her there were stars that explode, areas called black holes that devoured things that crossed their paths, and that there were millions upon millions of things called 'light years' which probably lay between her and her home planet. That last one was terrifying to her, and she had spent so many nights curled into a ball crying over that last fact. She felt even smaller than she already did, having learned all this as a slave. She had resolved to stop learning about it, and so she hadn't bothered to try to find out where she came from.
Hadrian's questions went right over her head, but she smiled politely and actually gave it her best try at explaining her native homeworld.
"My planet is always warm, where I live." she explained, "there are few stars in the sky, but there is a sun. I think it is slightly closer to my planet than Earth's is, but not too bad. I know there are some displays in the 'winter' months, almost like the northern lights I assume, but also like lightning almost...as if they happen together. It is amazing to see, and when it does happen my people throw a great celebration. We call it the Xoli... it is our deity." she said, smiling at Hadrian. "I am glad to find someone who understands what it is like to live on a new world...I was beginning to think I was the only alien."
Xara smiled at Hadrian, having already decided he was friend of hers. She could see nothing wrong with him, and pitied him for choosing Tara for a first companion.
---
Tara stood quietly off to the side of Hadrian, listening to them converse and chat about their home worlds with distant disinterest. Not that she didn't want to be uninterested but she just could not relate. It was cool, but she was simply lost on the subject. Besides, Xara was about as interesting as white bread. She hated talking to Xara, unless they were doing something dramatic, like kicking ass.
She turned to Hadrian and smiled coldly. "Hey, want to go somewhere warmer? Like... an indoor place so we can have some coffee or tea or whatever? I'm a bit hungry anyway. You hungry, preggers? Want a treat? Come on! Come on preggy!"
She laughed as a hurling snowball came her way and ploughed her right in the face.
"Hey hey! Okay I'm sorry; jeez, you're lethal!"
But Xara was already walking down the street, saying to Hadrian;
"If we do not feed her, maybe she will leave us alone? I know a good place for food, though. Would you care to get a warm drink?"
Listening to: MTV music videos.... on silent! XP Muse: it's good! Note: hope it's okay; you can add in drama or whatever if you want to. A surprise or something if you'd like to keep this going. ^_^

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]The species on Hadrian's planet did not believe in a God or Goddess, or even a "deity" as Xara called it. In fact they didn't believe in any sort of omnipotent being's. Evolution was theie belief. If you knew an Andromed brain then you'd know about their memory. Andromed memory made them extraordinary. In them, the unconcious knowledge of ancestrial behavior called instinct had evolved. Stored in their brain's were not just their own memories but the memories of their forebears. They could recall knowledge learned by their ancestors, and under lucky circumstances, some could even remember their own evolution.
They knew all about life on other planet's too... how else could he have gotten here?
Unvoluntarily, a memory flashed through Hadrian's mind. The one he thought of the most since his arival here...
"Let go of me!" Hadrian yelled in his own language as a massive gust if wind blew through the cargo bar as someone twisted the door's operating handle. Three men had a hold of him, one holding his arm's while two had his leg's, straightening the knees so that he could not kick them. Hadrian bared his teeth, his face twisted into a vicious looking scowl, "Let go!" he turned his head to bite the person holding his arm's but before he could, a male wearing a dark outfit with medal's on the front stepped over and punched him in the face, hard.
Hadrian grunted as the three-fingers fist made contact with his jaw, and a moment later he could taste a strong metalic liquid and a painful throbbing across his gum's. "No hard feeling's Morck" the suited male leant in close to Hadrian's ear. Hadrian continued to struggle, but was a lot less forceful than he had been. "Get rid of him." "But..." one of the men holding Hadrian's leg's hessitated, the expression on his face expressed a strong inner-turmoil . "We cant afford not to! Do it!" And that was that. Hadrian let out an ear-piercing scream as he felt himself fall... the gold light's of the spacecraft flashed before his eye's, before dissapearing through the dark forest and watched as a few of the massive truck's crashed to the ground as the force of the aircraft's thrust carried it away and out of sight before another flash of bright light followed after it. There was a very loud sound, just a few long dragging second's before Hadrian felt his skin make contact with something excrutiatingly painful.
Hadrian tried to picture what Xara's planety must be like but he wasn't able to conjure up much of an image because of the lack of detail. He could however picture a green and blue ball, probably with more green than blue because of the sun. He only assumed that there might't be a lot of rain because of the warmer climate. Hadrian returned a warmer smile as Xara smiled toward's him. She was right it was nice to find someone else who had lived on another world, as she put it. He still thought it was weird to think that to human's, he was an alien while to him, they looked completely alien.
He supposed it was similar to how say people from one continent would say that they had no accent when they met someone who's first language was a foreign one. Then that latter person might argue that the former person had an accent and they didn't. Everyonehad an accent. It was difficult to explain to some people. "To human's we are alien, yes." He did agree with her on that level. "But looking at say, Tara wouldn't you agree she look's alien to you?"
It was then that Tara decided to speak again, suggesting someplace warmer, he assumed it was for Xara's benefit but was grateful for the suggestion himself. Food though, he wasn't so sure about. Human food, or most drink's weren't really on top of his list of favorite thing's. He wasnt sure if it would be considered surprising or not, since the Human and andromed species were so similar but their animal's weren't too different either. Maybe it was the way their bionic organism's had evolved and had progressed on their planet's, and the close proximities of the planet that made them so similar. Even that he wasn't sure of. It was one of the reason's that the Andromed's sent science mission's from his planet to this one, to learn more about the biology. Regardless though the taste of food's and animal's were very different.
He thought about suggesting going back into the store that Xara had just come out from but it didn't seem like a very sensible idea. Tara was right though, someplace warmer would be nice. "Warm sounds good," Hadrian rubbed his hand's together and held them to his mouth, blowing into them in an effort to warm them up. "As long as it's in walking distance, I dont want to leave my bike for long." he jabbed a thumb back at the black and blue flamed Harley behind them.
Hadrian's eye's widened as Tara knelt to ball up a handful of snow and throw it at Xara, hitting her square in the face and he snorted as he tried to hold back laughter, only to have himself laugh even harder with slight embarassment. His laughter subsided into a few sporadic chuckles as he noticed that Xara was already walking away. "As long as there's sugar, I dont mind at all." He agreed, placing a hand on the square of Tara's back as he urged her forwards. "Why not eh? Beat's being hassled by my landlady for coming in and out of the appartment all night." + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
++ NOTES xx Sorry about the long wait! I've been waiting for the right muse Was thinking that when they get to where ever Xaa is taking them, a cafe or resturant or something the waitor or some trouble maker gives them a bit of a hard time? I'm sure that Xara would enjoy it

Xara had promised Sage, among others, that she would stop drinking alcohol. Her addiction was unfortunate but it wasn't something she could easily contain. She would actively avoid pubs, clubs or bars in hopes that she would not be tempted but in a city like this temptation was not something one could easily out run.
Coffee, as disgusting as it was, actually cleared Xara's mind. Tea's made her sleep, and the caffeine in coffee or tea or energy drinks did not make her energetic like they were supposed to. There was something in the coffee beans that helped her to think more clearly. Perhaps a chemical that reacted differently in her system than a humans, or perhaps it was another oddly specific medical term to explain why coffee soothed her. But it did, and for her simple outlook on life, that was all Xara needed to keep happy.
She crossed her arms over her chest as a gust of wind berated her side, making her sway. "Oh yes there is a lot of sugar at this place Mr. Hadrian." she said happily, ignoring Tara's sigh of annoyance.
"Oh yes, miss addiction over here knows where to get all of us our fixes don't you?" Tara said with a cheeky, shit eating grin on her fair skin.
Xara bared her teeth in Tara's direction, "Instead of mocking me then perhaps you could be so kind as to help me kick the addiction, hm?" she said accusingly, turning on her heel and leading her two new companions down the road. She fell into step beside the strange looking man and smiled up at him, "And to answer your question; yes, humans do look strange but what was most strange to me was how they interact with each other. On my planet we do most of our interactions through our links...our mental connections to each other are very strong and it is not healthy for my kind to be without a constant link for too long. You see," she said, looking down the street both ways before striking out into the slush covered concrete. A fresh layer was laid down on the black asphalt, making the scene look all the colder.
"when I first arrived on Earth I had no one to link to...people died from mere shock when I first linked to them. I was using my link with too much power and not enough warning. I have to tone it down, even now. I stopped linking for a long time and because of it I--"
Tara rolled her eyes impatiently, "She went bonkers!" she surmised, much to the disgust of Xara. "Oh here looks like a good place!" Tara grabbed onto Hadrian's hand and pulled him into a store, leaving Xara with a bemused expression to follow in their wake.
Her ears twitched in the direction of a few waiters who did not sit right with her. The way their eyes narrowed as they walked in...Xara lowered herself into the booth Tara had chosen, facing both her and Hadrian, looking behind her to see if the waiters were interested.
She only half listened to the conversation, leaving Tara to torture poor Hadrian with her off colour jokes for a moment, then turned back to face them. Why was she so troubled? It was probably nothing...
((OOC: Sorry it has taken me so long to reply DX I like the waiter idea, though I thought I would leave the fun up to you? XP))

[glow=red,2,300]Hello, hello, are you listening? Hello, hello, are you there? You've tuned the voices out but now the symptoms are everywhere You are, you are, you are part of this I know you think you're much more You better think again Because you're one defenceless animal [/glow]Ever since Hadrian was little, he was a fussy eater. Anything he ate since he was a child would have to be arranged so that each morsel of food would be sitting in a different side of the plate, and under no circumstances should any of the food be touching one another.
Hadrian was unsure of exactly where they were going but he knew that any food establishment they did choose to dine in he highly doubted that he'd think any of it appealing. He will admit that he avoided most food's, but them sometimes Hadrian simply forgot that he had a body that required nourishment from time to time if he wanted to keep it functioning, and if that meant eating something disgusting, he'd have to do it, but if he could figure out a way to live on air, he probably would too.
Interestingly, though it had very little nutritional value that he knew of, he didn't mind the taste of sugar. Sweet thing's, as it turned out appealed to him. He recalled one person telling him that "you are what you eat". Hadrian thought that notion was funny since he didn't consider himself as overly sweet, so why did he like sweet thing's? Silly human logic.
Hadrian's teeth chattered slightly as they walked, and he wrapped his arm's around his chest tightly, as if the action would help at all. If it did, it definately wasnt helping much. He could only imagine how cold Xara must be if she was accurate about how warm her planet was. She must be absolutely freezing. He was relieved when Xara told him that there was a lot of sugar where they were going. Even if he had to choose something from the desert menu, he probably should. He couldnt remember the last time he had a really good feed, on Earth anyway. If only there were a way of FedEx'ing some food from his own planet to Earth he knew he would.
Tara continued to bait Xara, using quip's over some sort of addiction, and fixes. Fixes for what, Hadrian wondered. Like on all planet's there were herb's, berries, fruits (or at least his equilavant of), everything you'd need to create some sort of state-altering smoke or beverage. Hadrian would be called a hypocrit if he condemned an addict of any sort as some sort of sinner, or low-life since he knew very well that he'd tried those thing's before, on his planet anyway. He knew very little of how these Earth alcahol's or drug's would affect him. He knew it would only take a quick exchange of money and he'd be able to try, but he simply chose not to. See, as much as certain people drove him up a wall, he did try to be a decent roll model and that kept him away from most drugs and alcohol popular with his age.
Xara moved so that she walked beside him then, agreeing with him when he'd said that human's looked strange. On some level he knew that he probably lookedalmost just as strange seeing as the most obvious difference between Andromed's and Human's were fingers and toes, weight, their eyes and strength in bones. He rarely ever thought about their interaction with each other.
Andromed's were very big on touching; their connection's were through feel, and through memory. Well we've explained Hadrian's ability to heal through touch, but their mind's were one of the most fascinating thing's about them. He didn't like talking about it too openly, for fear of something getting out about it and he might get experimented on, but what was unique about theur mind's was that they rarely forgot, use several part's of their brain at once, and of course there was that peculiar and wonderful little ability to remember not only their own memories, but their ancestor's memories as well if they chose to. They knew all about their world's history and evolution. So, while most human's would have to take history classes for year's in schooling establishment's, an Andromed child would only have to be reminded of their histories once and it was in their mind's forever.
It sounded as if Xara's species relied on their mental connection's a lot more, though he admitted to himself he didn't understand the extent of just how much they did rely on it until Tara put it so subtly, "she went bonkers!" He wasn't sure what bonker's was either but he assumed it was a mocking term for insane. He looked at Xara, not seeing any obvious sign's of insanity about her. He'd have to know more. But he couldn't ask more, as he felt his hand being grasped tightly and he was pulled toward's a small cafe, he looked back at Xara as he was pulled along, giving her an apologetic smile and beconing her to follow them with his free hand.
Hadrian felt the immediate switch in temperatures as he was led, no, dragged into the small cafe, already bringing attention to them as they cause that small commotion. Immediatly Hadrian felt eyes on them as they took a booth at the corner of the cafe, him sitting beside Tara as Xara followed in after them, lowing herself with a little more grace than they had, into a chair just opposite them. Immediately, Hadrian could feel, rather than see the eyes on them as they settled themselves in.
To the right of him, past Tara he could just see out of the corner of his eye a young man, wearing an apron staring at them while he lowered a few plates onto a young family's table and he lowered his gaze, choosing then to take a few sachet's of sugar and tear open the top of them, pouring the sugar onto his palm before sucking on the end of his spare index finger, dipping it into the sugar so that it stuck to his skin and then lifting it to taste it. Cafe sugar wasn't as tasty as the sugar you'd get in store's but it was better than nothing. It barely registered with him that that action alone must look strange as well, but so was sitting in a booth with a shapeshifter and another alien.
"You know Xara, I think I may be able to help. My brain is a lot more evolved than a human's," he kept his tone low enough so that he was sure that only he and his two other companion's alone could hear what he was saying. "It's stronger, more capeable. My species share similar link's in the sence that we use our sence of touch to heal other's, but all of the ability is up here," he tapped his forehead with his finger. "I may not be able to communicate with other people through thought, but my memories span back billion's of year's. In a way that is like sharing a link, with my entire species. I think I could handle your linking." Would she beable to link with him? His brain wasn't like a human's, it was stronger, more evolved, and obviously able to handle pain a lot better. Why not? Human's were a lot more fragile, physically, emotionally. Hadrian knew his own limit's. He also knew that he had that annoying wanting to assist the down-trodden, despite his usual wanting to be left alone temprament suggested he'd want otherwise. He wasnt sure why but meeting other paranormal's such as Xara, Tara, Sage too were making him feel that maybe there were other's out there who were like him, in the same boat. He wasn't alone, as much as he'd like to think he was.
Hadrian glanced back toward's the young guy who'd been staring at them, and realised that he had walked back towards the front counter, where his two other waiter-friend's who had also slipped back near the counter, to try and remain a little more unseen. Hadrian smirked, "bit rude of them dont you think? Even freak's get hungry." + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
++ NOTES xx Hope it gives ya something to work with! Wonder if Xara would be able ot link with Hadrain? His brain is different to a human's. Maybe the waiter's could give them a bit of a hard time like making fun of Xara's ears or something, thinking that they cant hear them speaking? Just something to go off at first
